ORU 103, Omaha 86
Three ORU players scored 20 or more points as ORU (7-14, 3-4 in the Summit League) beat Omaha (11-10, 4-4) 103-86 Saturday at the Mabee Center.
Albert Owens hit 11 of his last 13 shots in the game and was 6-7 from the free throw line to score a career-high 28 points. Kris Martin added 26 points and Jalen Bradley scored 16 in the second half alone en route to 24 points, also matching his career high with seven assists. Emmanuel Nzekwesi chipped in 13 points and a game-high 12 rebounds for his fourth double-double of the season.
“It was a good win,” said ORU coach Scott Sutton. “We beat a hot team who had won four in a row and was playing awfully good basketball. We got a lot of production from several different guys.”
ORU 90, South Dakota 80
The Oral Roberts men’s basketball team used a 16-0 run in the second half to pull away from South Dakota 90-80 January 18 night at the Mabee Center.
Aaron Anderson had half of the points in the run and finished with a career high 20 points and 10 rebounds to earn his first career double-double. Owens scored 21 points to lead the way while all nine Golden Eagles who played scored points.
ORU out-rebounded South Dakota 41-34, the second most rebounds for the Golden Eagles this season and the most against a Division I opponent.
“It was a good win,” said ORU coach Scott Sutton. “I’m proud of our guys how they responded in the second half, especially our guards. We challenged our three senior guards and they came out and were great in the second half and were great and were the biggest difference in the game.”
