The Tulsa Praise Orchestra will celebrate “A Big Band Christmas” with a series of four festive concerts.
The scheduled concerts are:
- The Coleman Theatre in Miami on December 10
- First Baptist Church of Owasso on December 11
- Saint Philip Neri Catholic Church in Midwest City on December 18
- Silver Creek Nazarene Church in Owasso on December 23
Since 1995, the Tulsa Praise Orchestra has been presenting Christmas concerts with a big band style. The orchestra has musicians who play five trumpets, four trombones, five saxophones, a French horn, 2 pianos, bass and drums. The Frontline Singers are the vocalists.
Trumpeter Bob Archer formed the orchestra 21 years ago and they have performed a number of concerts with patriotic and Christmas themes. They have played all over Oklahoma plus Texas, Missouri, Arkansas, New Mexico, New Jersey and New York City.
In the December 10 and 11 concerts, national recording artist Dave Boyer will be the featured guest. Boyer got his start as a teenager with members of the famous “Rat Pack.”
In the December 18 and 23 concerts, the featured artist will be Colleen Thompson. Bob Holzmann is the orchestra conductor.
The three concerts in the churches are free (with a love offering). The December 10 concert at the Coleman Theatre in Miami has tickets for $15 (seniors and children get discounts). For more information, call 9180-814-5550 or go to www.TulsaPraise.com.
