Tulsa County voters who want to vote absentee in the June 30 primary election should apply now, according to County Election Board Secretary Gwen Freeman.
County officials can accept applications for absentee ballots as late as 5 p.m. on June 23. Forms are available at the County Election Board at 555 N. Denver Ave. or online at www.elections.ok.gov.
Ballots have to be in the hands of the County Election Board officials by 7 p.m. on election day to be counted.
Any registered voter can vote by absentee without giving a reason.
“While anyone can vote absentee without giving a reason, the law still provides several advantages in some categories,” she said.
- Voters who are physically incapacitated and people who care for the physically incapacitated who can’t be left alone may vote absentee. The can apply only by mail, fax, email, online or via an agent who is at least 16 (who is not related to a candidate on the ballot).
- Voters in nursing homes my vote absentee.
- Military personnel and county residents who are overseas and the spouses and dependents may get absentee ballots.
The June 30 ballot will have:
- Two races for the Tulsa Board of Education (Districts 5 and 6)
- Collinsville School Board (Office 5)
- Union School Board (Office 5)
- Berryhill School Board (Office 5)
- State Question 802 (a proposed amendment to the Oklahoma Constitution to expand Medicaid funding).
- A U.S. Senate primary
- Several Oklahoma Senate primaries
- Several Oklahoma House primaries
