Adventists will buy Grace Church

Grace Church is selling its campus at 9610 S. Garnett Road to a Seventh-Day Adventist group for about $12 million.

According to reports, the YME Foundation will close on the purchase in November. The foundation will buy 58 of the 76-acre site, including the seven buildings. The other 18 acres are under contract to be sold to Case & Associates Properties to build a 340-unit apartment complex.

The site of Grace Church will be the new location for Tulsa Adventist Academy, a kindergarten through 12th grade Christian school with about 120 students.

Tulsa Adventist Academy is currently at 900 S. New Haven. Officials say they have a waiting list for student applicants.

The school wants to move to the new site by the start of the fall semester next year.

Grace Church has had a steep decline in membership and was looking to sell its mega-church facility and downsize to a building that is closer to it needs. The church will continue to meet in its present facility after the sale for awhile.

The Grace congregation was enthusiastic that the facility would be purchased by a Christian school.
