College of the Ozarks has been ranked No. 1 in the Top 50 Christian Colleges & Universities with the Lowest Debt Burden and No. 18 in the 50 Most Beautiful Christian Colleges & Universities in the United States by Christian Universities Online (CUO) for 2016.
Oklahoma Wesleyan University in Bartlesville was No. 40 on the list. John Brown University in Siloam Springs, Arkansas, is No. 17. Oklahoma Baptist University is No. 16.
“Hard Work U. is honored to be recognized in these areas,” said Valorie Coleman, public relations director. “At College of the Ozarks, students have the opportunity to graduate debt free, which certainly is not the norm for most college students. Students here work rather than pay for their tuition, a tradition that definitely pays off for our graduates.”
The college also was ranked as one of the most beautiful Christian colleges in the U.S. Five staff supervisors work in the landscaping department, overseeing 75 student workers who together maintain the high standards for the campus grounds. This allows for the enjoyment of the faculty, staff, students, and many tourists who visit the College.
CUO began with schools that are members or member eligible of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities. The website then gathered publicly available data from U.S. News & World Report. CUO used the “average total indebtedness of the 2014 graduating class” as the single data point upon which the Lowest Debt Burden ranking was built.
CUO understands the long-term impact student loan debt can have on graduates. Their ranking attempts to highlight schools that have done an excellent job in caring for their students not only academically, but also financially.
College of the Ozarks is a Christian, liberal arts college located on a 1,000-acre campus in Point Lookout, Mo. Christian values, hard work and financial responsibility comprise the fundamental building blocks of the “Hard Work U.” experience.
