With the NBA Finals underway and the league allowing teams to sell ad space on uniforms as of 2017, estimated to generate $100 million to $150 million in yearly revenue, the personal-finance website WalletHub released its report on 2017’s Best & Worst Cities for Basketball Fans.
Oklahoma City is No. 6. Tulsa ranks No. 133. Norman is No. 40. Stillwater is No. 41. Fayetteville is No. 92
Oklahoma City is No. 3 on the list of “best-performing NBA teams” behind Oakland, California (home of the Golden State Warriors) and San Antonio, Texas (home of the Spurs). Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, is last on the list. Oklahoma City is tied for first place for the “most engaged fans” while New York (Knicks) have the lowest engaged fans.
Wichita, Kansas is No. 2 on the “best performing college basketball teams” list. Conway, Arkansas, has the second lowest price for a season ticket for college basketball while Lawrence, Kansas, (home of the Jayhawks), is tied for the highest priced season ticket.
Lawrence is tied for first when it comes to “most engaged college basketball fans” along with Bloomington, Illinois; Chapel Hill, North Carolina; East Lansing, Michigan; Morgantown, West Virginia; and Storrs, Connecticut. Montgomery, Alabama, is last at No. 291.

- Chicago has the highest attendance rate for NBA games, which is 1.5 times higher than in Detroit, the city with the lowest.
- The Golden State Warriors have the highest performance level among NBA teams, 77.64 percent, which is 4.1 times better than that of the Philadelphia 76ers, the team with the lowest at 19.11 percent.
- The Villanova Wildcats have the highest performance level among college basketball teams, 88.15 percent, which is 5.7 times better than that of the Grambling State Tigers, the team with the lowest at 15.57 percent.
