Big 12 players in the draft

Three Big 12 football players were chosen in the first round of the 2016 NFL Draft to give the Conference 79 all-time first-round selections. Twenty-three more were taken in the remaining rounds for a total of 26 in 2016 and 554 overall picks since 1997.

Safety Karl Joseph (West Virginia) was the first Big 12 player when he was selected 14th by the Oakland Raiders. The next pick was wide receiver Corey Coleman (Baylor) to the Cleveland Browns. At No. 22, wide receiver Josh Doctson (TCU) was also chosen in the first round by the Washington Redskins.

The Big 12 record for first-round picks is nine in 2010 when the league had the top four selections and five of the top six. A Conference-high 35 players were chosen in the 1997 and 2003 drafts.
