Editorial: California law facilitates abortion

Some liberals are willing to sacrifice the constitutional right to freedom of speech to promote the murder of unborn babies.

A new law in California requires that pro-life pregnancy resource centers post signs in their clinics to tell women where they can get free or low-cost abortions so they can more easily kill their unborn babies.

This unconstitutional state law is being challenged in a case that has been filed with the U.S. Supreme Court.

Similar laws have been struck down in New York and Virginia but California is ruled by the San Francisco-based Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals – the most liberal, pro-abortion court in America.

The Ninth Circuit Court of Appeals loves the idea of forcing pregnancy resources centers – run mostly by Christian charities – to facilitate abortion of unborn innocent babies.

Pacific Justice Institute represents two pregnancy clinics, one each in Northern and Southern California.  PJI is filed its brief, known as a Petition for Writ of Certiorari, with the Supreme Court.

No American who believes in the sanctity of life should be forced to accommodate the killing of babies.

Brad Dacus, president of PJI, said, “This is an important day for the future of free speech in America.  If the government can force conscientious Americans to advertise for the government and say things that contradict their deeply held beliefs, our liberties are lost.  We are very hopeful the Supreme Court will take up this case and restore free speech in this crucial area of national debate.”

For the sake of the lives of unborn children in California, the U.S. Supreme Court should overturn the out-of-control Ninth Circuit Appeals Court once again.
