Casino gambling causes problems

Oklahoma has more than 117 tribal casino operations and March has been designated National Problem Gambling Awareness Month.

The Oklahoma Problem Gambling Helpline is 1-800-522-4700.

A report showed most of the 2,082 callers to the line last year were women and callers ranged in age from 17-90.

Signs of a gambling problem include gambling longer than planned, gambling causing loss of sleep, borrowing money to finance gambling, becoming depressed after gambling and feeling suicidal after gambling losses. Oklahomans concerned about themselves or a loved one can call the helpline 24/7, where trained specialists will answer and help callers. Calls are confidential and free.
