Christmas Parade will be Saturday
The Third Annual Tulsa Christmas Parade will take place at 6 p.m. December 7 at Tulsa Hills Shopping Center on 71st Street east of U.S. 75.
Two years ago, a group of Christians – including businessman Mark Croucher and businessman/radio host Eddie Huff – decided to start the parade after the longtime Downtown Christmas Parade had changed its name to the Tulsa Downtown Parade of Lights to exclude references to Jesus Christ.
Christmas was dropped from the name in 2009. Organizers said the switch was made to accommodate Jewish and Muslim communities.
The Tulsa Downtown Parade of Lights will be on December 14. In 2011 and 2012, the two parades had been scheduled on the same nights.
People from all over Tulsa – not just the Downtown and Midtown areas – are invited that secularized parade.
