Oklahoma Corporation Commissioner Dana Murphy has won another six-year term after her only opponent formally withdrew from the race.
The Oklahoma Election Board gave Murphy a certificate of election after receiving a formal notice from Democrat state Rep. Richard Morrissette that he is no longer a candidate.
Morrissette, an Oklahoma City attorney, announced his withdrawal late last month. The 60-year-old New Hampshire native said the death of his father in April was a factor in his decision.
Morrissette would have faced Murphy, a Republican incumbent with more than $630,000 in her campaign war chest, based on Murphy’s recent filing with the Oklahoma Ethics Commission.
