Editorial: Congratulations, President Trump

Congratulations to President Donald Trump.

Trump will usher in a new era of American politics when he is sworn in on January 20.

A legitimate political outsider who has never held public office, Trump parlayed his business acumen and common sense into a ticket to the White House.

Trump wasn’t the first choice of many conservative Christians but in contrast to Barack Obama, Trump looks like a champion of traditional values.

The liberal media, including the Tulsa World, will not give Trump a traditional “honeymoon” as he takes office. Almost every president has a break at first when harsh critics keep their mouths shut and let the new president settle. But there is no such grace period for Trump as the liberal media, the Democrats and Hollywood has declared war on him and plan to do everything they can to keep him – and America – from success and prosperity.

If nothing else, Trump knows how to get things done. And he is filling his administration with people who know how to get things done.

It’s time to “drain the swamp” and Trump looks like the right man at the right time to accomplish great things for the United States.

There is work to be done. Repeal of Obamacare, restoration of the economy and the halt of the liberal social agenda should take center stage. With the Republicans controlling both the House and Senate, Trump should be able to fulfill most of his campaign promises. If he faces roadblocks, the nation will find out about it on Twitter.

Eight years ago, America lost hope. Now that hope has been restored. Let’s give President Trump the time and encouragement he needs to see that hope fulfilled.
