Editorial: Congratulations to OU, OSU, Pruitt and lawmakers

Congratulations to Oklahoma Attorney General Scott Pruitt, who has been nominated by President-elect Donald Trump to be the new head of the Environmental Protection Agency.

Pruitt, a genuine conservative and a fine Christian man, will restore common sense to that federal agency.

Congratulations to Coach Bob Stoops and the No. 7 Oklahoma football team. After winning nine Big 12 games in a row, the Sooners are the champions of the Big 12.

Best wishes to Stoops and his team as they take on Auburn in the Sugar Bowl. Congratulations to Baker Mayfield and Dede Westbrook for finishing third and fourth  in the Heisman balloting.

Congratulations to Coach Mike Gundy and the No. 12 Oklahoma State Cowboys.

Here’s hoping the Cowboys defeat No. 10 Colorado in a classic matchup in the Alamo Bowl. Gundy has an outstanding record at OSU and the hope is he will stay for many more years.

Congratulations to the newest members of the Oklahoma Legislature, in particular two new Tulsa senators – Sen. Dave Rader, R-District 39, and Sen. Joe Newhouse, R-District 25.

Again, these are men of great integrity who will be of great service to our state and their districts.

Oklahoma faces great challenges and it is reassuring to know that there are some legislators with the character and initiative to face and conquer those problems.
