Conservative, Bible-believing Christians endorse Cruz

You can tell a lot about a candidate by his endorsements.

U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz has gained endorsements from some of the most genuine conservatives in Tulsa and Oklahoma.

Chief among those is U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine, R-Oklahoma.

“Senator Ted Cruz has already spent a lot of time in Oklahoma and is making our state a priority,” Bridenstine wrote on “He is committed to energy security for America and he knows that Oklahoma is a critical part of the solution.

“The American Energy Renaissance Act, which Senator Cruz and I introduced in our respective chambers, will grow the economies of Oklahoma and America, provide energy security, support our allies, and undercut our enemies. I’m proud so many elected officials are recognizing Senator Cruz’s commitment to Oklahoma.”

Some of the state representatives who have endorsed Cruz include Rep. David Brumbaugh (chairman of the House Republican Caucus), Rep. Michael Rogers, Rep. Mark McCullough, Rep. Dan Fisher, Rep. David Derby, Rep. Chuck Strohm, Rep. Justin Wood, Rep. Ken Walker and Rep. Mark Lepak.

Add Tulsa County Assessor Ken Yazel to that list.

That is like a conservative “who’s who” with few notable exceptions.

“Senator Ted Cruz understands what over-regulation has done to the electric power industry and American business in general. I appreciate his work in the Senate to support hard working families and allow the free market to return prosperity to America.,” Brumbaugh said.

In the Oklahoma Senate, Cruz got endorsements from Senate Pro Tempore Brian Bingman, Sen. Gary Stanislawski and Sen. Anthony Sykes.

“I have spent time getting to know Senator Cruz and am convinced his policies are right for Oklahoma,” Bingman said.

In conservative Wagoner County, Cruz has been endorsed by Wagoner County Assessor Sandy Hodges, Clerk Lori Hendricks, Court Clerk Jim Hight and Treasurer Dana Patten.

Cruz is getting endorsements from national champions of conservatism and Biblical Christianity.

Tony Perkins, president of the Family Research Council, chose Cruz over fellow Republican Donald Trump.

Former Texas Gov. Rick Perry, who ended a run for the presidential nomination, has endorsed Cruz even though they have had their differences in the past.

“Of those individuals of who have a chance to win the Republican primary, at this juncture from my perspective, Ted Cruz is by far the most consistent conservative in that crowd,” Perry said.
National radio talk show host Glenn Beck, a favorite among the Tea Party and grassroots conservative, has overwhelming endorsed Cruz. Beck has compared Cruz to George Washington.

Phil Robertson, the outspoken patriarch of the Duck Dynasty clan, has endorsed Cruz (even though his son Willie endorsed Trump).

“My qualifications for president of the United States are rather narrow: Is he or she Godly, does he or she love us, can he or she do the job, and finally, would they kill a duck and put him in a pot and make him a good duck gumbo?” Phil Robertson said in a video. “I’ve looked at the candidates. Ted Cruz is my man. He fits the bill. He’s Godly, he loves us, he’s the man for the job and he will go duck hunting.”

Dr. James Dobson, founder of Focus on the Family and one of the most influential Christians of our time, has endorsed Cruz.

“Ted Cruz’s record on religious liberty, life, and marriage is second to none in this Republican field,” Dobson said. “I have met with the senator on multiple occasions: he is brilliant, articulate, and informed. Shirley and I have been praying for a leader such as this, and we are confident that Ted Cruz has the moral and spiritual foundations to lead our nation with excellence. Speaking as private individuals, we urge conservatives and people of faith to join us in supporting his race for the presidency.”

Actor Clint Howard, the conservative brother of director/actor Ron Howard (Opie on The Andy Griffith Show), has endorsed Cruz.

Dick and Richard Bott of Bott Radio Network have endorsed Cruz. Dick founded the Bott Radio Network, one of the largest Christian talk networks in the nation (more than 100 stations in 15 states).

“Not since Ronald Reagan has this country seen someone with the ability and the wisdom that Ted Cruz has,” Dick Bott said. “Our listeners are eager to select the next President of the United States – a man of principle, of Christian character, and a proven leader with a record of conservative accomplishment.”

“Ted Cruz is unwavering in his principles, bold to stand up for what’s right, and unafraid to be politically incorrect.” Rich Bott added. “Ted Cruz is the right man running at the right time. He is an answer to prayer, he is in our prayers, and we believe that he will make an exceptional president.”

That’s high praise from a lot of people that I highly respect.

The Republican field has many good candidates – all of whom would be better than President Obama, Hillary Clinton or Bernie Sanders.

Dan Keating, twin brother of former Gov. Frank Keating and a weekly columnist for the Tulsa Beacon, has endorsed Trump and is active in his campaign in Oklahoma.

Tulsa Beacon columnist Randy Bright is voting for Ted Cruz.

It is important to unite behind a conservative nominee but first we have to select someone with a proved track record, conservative principles and a good chance to win.

I think that is U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz.
