Dec. 7-9 filing for sheriff, school boards

At least seven candidates are expected to file for the unexpired term of Tulsa County Sheriff Stanley Glanz during the filing period December 7-9.

School board candidates in Sand Springs, Broken Arrow, Bixby, Jenks, Collinsville, Skiatook, Sperry, Union, Berryhill, Owasso, Glenpool, Liberty, Keystone, Tulsa Public Schools and Tulsa Vo-Tech will also file December 7-9.

Glanz resigned on November 1 after a Tulsa County grand jury returned two misdemeanor indictments and called for his dismissal in the wake of a fatal shooting by a reserve volunteer deputy who thought he was shooting a taser when he actually fired a pistol.

Gov. Mary Fallin set a special general election to replace Glanz on April 5 with a primary on March 1. The term expires in January of 2017.

Candidates must file at the Tulsa County Election Board office, 555 N. Denver Ave.

The Board of Education positions at stake will be filled at the Annual School Election scheduled Feb. 9, 2016. If no candidate receives more than 50 percent of the total votes cast in the election, the two candidates receiving the highest number of votes will meet in a runoff election on Tuesday, April 5. Candidates may file for the following offices:
