Dossett wins in Senate election

Owasso Democrat J.J. Dossett defeated Republican David McLain to win the special election for Senate District 34 in North Tulsa County.

Dossett got 56 percent of the vote with 44 percent going to McLain.

The seat was open due to the resignation of former Sen. Rick Brinkley, who has plead guilty to federal felonies.

The district, which used to be a GOP stronghold, was represented before Brinkley by former Sen. Randy Brogdon, one of the most conservative politicians in the state.
