The 2018 Oklahoma State Evangelism Conference (SEC), hosted by the Baptist General Convention of Oklahoma (BGCO), will be Jan. 29-30 at Southern Hills Baptist Church in Oklahoma City (8601 S. Pennsylvania Ave). Featured speakers include:
- Ed Newton, lead pastor of Community Bible Church, in San Antonio, Texas.
He is an author, speaker and leader who promotes revival, leadership, evangelism, discipleship, leadership and purposeful living – especially for the “next” generation.
- Gregg Matte, pastor of Houston’s First Baptist Church and founder of Breakaway Ministries at Texas A&M University.
He leads the largest college Bible study in the nation.
- Matt Blagg, worship leader for the SEC.
Mike Napier, BGCO’s personal evangelism specialist, will oversee the 2018 SEC. The theme of SEC 2018 is “Urgency” based off of the passage of Scripture John 9:4 which says, “We must quickly carry out the tasks assigned us by the one who sent us. The night is coming, and then no one can work.”
Napier said, “Part of our challenge as believers is procrastination when it comes to evangelism. We need a sense of urgency about us, and prayerfully that is what God will accomplish at the evangelism conference.”
Other events that are a part of SEC include: Night of Prayer, which will take place Jan. 28 at 5 p.m. at Southern Hills, the Senior Adult Session that begins at 9 a.m. Jan. 29 and the Women’s Session that is from 9 to 11:30 a.m. on Jan. 30.
