Fallin: tax cuts will stay

Gov. Mary Fallin said the state will not roll back scheduled state income tax rates despite an estimated $1.3 billion budget shortfall.

“Giving the middle class and the poor a tax break is a smart thing to do, letting them keep more of their hard-earned money, especially when people are losing their jobs right now,” Fallin said after a state Board of Equalization Meeting.

The cut in the top income tax rate is from 5.25 percent to 5 percent.
