Ross Ford edged Shelley Brumbaugh by 19 votes on August 8 to win the winner-take-all primary in the special election for House District 76 in Broken Arrow.
Ford advances with 645 votes (31 percent), compared to 626 votes (30 percent) for Brumbaugh, who was seeking to replace her late husband, Rep. David Brumbaugh, who died unexpectedly.
In the GOP primary, Union teacher Brian Elliot got 598 votes (28 percent), attorney Cliff Johns go 191 votes (10 percent) and Jess Guthrie got 27 votes (1 percent).
In the Democrat primary, Chris VanLandingham won with 285 votes (54 percent) over Forrest Mayer with 241 votes (46 percent).
The special election will be on November 14.
Also on August 8, voters in Glenpool approved a city proposition by a vote of 117-17.
