Freeman to replace Secretary Bryant

The Election Board was expected to name former talk host Gwen Freeman to replace Tulsa County Election Board Secretary Patty Bryant.

Bryant told the Oklahoma State Election Board on April 7 that she did not want to be reappointed at the end of her term on April 30.

Tulsa County’s Republican state senators nominated Freeman for the position. State Sen. Dan Newberry, R-Tulsa, is listed as a reference on the resume Freeman submitted to the state Election Board.

County election board secretaries are appointed by the state Election Board, most of the time after they are nominated by the county’s state senators.

Bryant became election board secretary in 2007. She is leaving to spend more time in her real estate business.

Freeman worked with Michael DelGiorno beginning in 1999 at KRAV, then moving to KFAQ. She worked with DelGiorno from 2002 to 2007. She followed DelGiorno to Nashville, Tennessee, from 2008 to 2012 and has been out of broadcasting the past few years.
