GOP group endorses Brian O’Hara

With more than 77 percent of the votes, former congressional aide and Jenks city councilor Brian O’Hara was endorsed by the Tulsa Area Republican Assembly in the GOP primary for State Senate District 37. Republican Nicole Nixon got 23 percent of the votes and was only other candidate to receive support from the membership.

TARA is familiar with O’Hara from his constituent services and representation of the office of U.S. Rep. Jim Bridenstine for the past 4 years. The special primary election is set for early September 12 and is a winner-take-all primary. Tulsa Republican assembly is a local affiliate of the National Federation of Republican Assemblies. It operates separate of the OKGOP but members must be registered Republicans in order to join.

The Republicans in the primary are Grady Grant, Brian M. Jackson, Rick Hardesty, R. Jay McAtee and Phil Nollan. The lone Democrat, Allison Ikley-Freeman, will face the GOP winner in November.
