Principal photography has resumed for I Can Only Imagine in Oklahoma. This film is the latest production to use the Oklahoma Film Enhancement Rebate Program administered by the Oklahoma Film + Music Office (OF+MO).

Written by Jon Erwin and Brent McCorkle, I Can Only Imagine tells the story behind the song of the same name which found an audience with both pop and Christian fans everywhere, selling millions of copies worldwide and reaching the top of the Billboard Top 200 singles chart. Based on the true story of lead singer Bart Millard and the band MercyMe, this film seeks to inspire audiences everywhere with its authentic portrait of faith, love and family.

The film, which wraps production in January, recently announced its cast which includes Dennis Quaid, Trace Adkins, Oscar-winner Cloris Leachman, Madeline Carroll, Priscilla Shirer and, in his screen debut, Broadway’s J. Michael.

“We are thrilled to be filming in the state of Oklahoma,” said Producer Kevin Downes. “With its long sunsets and unique landscapes coupled with the experience of Oklahoma film crews, we believe I Can Only Imagine will show off the beauty of this state.”

The film is directed by brothers, Jon and Andrew Erwin. Daryl Lefever and Cindy Bond are producing the film alongside co-producers Josh Walsh and Joe Knopp and executive producers Travis Mann, Simon Swart and Scott Brickell.

“If there was ever a question about how a film enhances a state’s image, I Can Only Imagine is the perfect example of how talented filmmakers will globally showcase the beauty of Oklahoma on the big screen,” said OF+MO Director Tava Maloy Sofsky.“
