Jackson runs for Senate D-37

Sand Springs City Councilor Brian Jackson, Republican, announced his candidacy for Senate District 37.  District 37 is made up of Tulsa County and includes Sand Springs, Lotsee, Glenpool, Jenks and Tulsa.

“The professional accountable citizens of Senate District 37 deserve a humble steward to best represent our values in Oklahoma City and not those of paid special interest led by political action committees,” Jackson said. “I support public education. I will be the voice of students, parents, and educators working as a team at the Capitol.”

“As a husband to a professional third grade public school teacher in Sand Springs and proud father to a Pre-K student, I understand the answer starts with each one of us realizing that educators across the state are professionals. Professionals that champion daily effort to propel our state for prosperity one student, one classroom, and one school at a time.  Long overdue is the time that our state, made up of its citizens, realize our future is looking us in the eye and wondering if we will pass forward the promise we each were given,” Jackson said. “Each of us has been given a burden, due to the lack of public education funding in our state’s past and present.  We, as parents, educators and accountable citizens must now pick up this forgotten promise and decide together how we proceed.”

For 8 years, Jackson has worked as the Development Manager for Junior Achievement of Oklahoma, an organization that teaches financial literacy, work readiness and entrepreneurship to K-12 students.  Jackson focuses on inspiring donors and volunteers to see JA’s purpose of empowering young people to own their economic success.

Jackson has served on the Sand Springs City Council since 2009.  Jackson became the youngest in the history of Sand Springs to win a city council seat by unseating a 30-year incumbent, and has drawn no opponent since.  Jackson has also been the Vice Mayor of Sand Springs.

Jackson and his wife Barbie of 7 years, live in Sand Springs.  They are members of CrossPoint Church and are involved with Sand Springs Parents Action and Advocacy Team.  Brian is an active member of his daughter’s PTO, member of Leadership Tulsa Class 55, Secretary of Sand Springs Rotary Club, a 32 Degree Mason, and serves on the Salvation Army Advisory Council.
