Every starter for Oklahoma State hit double figures but it wasn’t enough as Kansas State beat OSU 96-88 in Stillwater on January 19.
Jeffrey Carroll matched a career high with 24 points and Jawun Evans added 20.
Phil Forte, III, put up 12 points, nine of which were from behind the arc, and Mitchell Solomon contributed 10. Leyton Hammonds scored 11 and added seven rebounds for the Cowboys who lost their sixth straight. The past five losses have come by 10 or fewer points.
“I have to give a lot of credit to Kansas State, and it started with their guard play in Kamau Stokes and Barry Brown,” said OSU coach Brad Underwood. “We have to guard better.
“We’ve got to guard better on the perimeter. It’s been a recurring theme in conference play that we are struggling to guard the perimeter, and we have to get better with that.”
The game was the 1,000th men’s basketball game in historic Gallagher-Iba Arena. All-time, the Cowboys are 780-220 in the venue, which opened in 1938.
