Medicare beneficiaries have less than three weeks to review and change their Medicare Advantage and prescription drug plans for 2016. Last year during Open Enrollment, the Oklahoma Insurance Department’s Medicare Assistance Program (MAP) and their partner agencies helped beneficiaries save an average of $1,900 on their Part D prescription drug plan.
“Medicare-related plans can change yearly. That’s why it’s important to review your plan,” Oklahoma Insurance Commissioner John D. Doak said. “Oklahoma has more than 600,000 people on Medicare. We want to help them make the most of their medical coverage and their budget to protect their quality of life.”
Oklahomans can get free education and enrollment help at a series of events held across the state by MAP and their partner agencies. At the Medicare Forums, beneficiaries can learn about recent changes to Medicare, Medicare Advantage and Part D plan options. To find an event, go to map.oid.ok.gov.
“It is critical to give your Medicare coverage a second look every year,” said Ray Walker, MAP Director. “We’ve helped Oklahomans save thousands of dollars each year on their prescription drug costs.”
Medicare Open Enrollment ends Dec. 7. Any changes made during this period will go into effect on Jan. 1. For information, call MAP at 800-763-2828 for free Medicare counseling.
