Rick Weigel, acting Tulsa County Sheriff, announced that he is retiring and he has been replaced by Chief Deputy Michelle Robinette.
That position has been unsettled since the resignation of Stanley Glanz, who is subject to two misdemeanor accusations from a grand jury last year.
Weigel said he was retiring to spend more time with his family.
Chief Deputy John, second in line, also announced his retirement last week. That made Robinette the top employee in the department.
Budget concerns reportedly are part of the reason for the departures.
Voters will select a new sheriff in a special election this spring. Ten candidates have filed for that office.
