Calypso Cove Marina, located at Lake Thunderbird in Norman, will host a fishing tournament on Saturday, June 24 with a potential grand prize of $1,000,000.
The Oklahoma Wildlife Commission will release 25 tagged bass into the lake prior to the tournament. Of these tagged fish, one will be randomly pre-selected by SCA Promotions, Inc. for the grand prize of $1,000,000.
Cash prizes will also be given for biggest catches. Tagged fish caught after the tournament during the 2017 marina season can be turned into Calypso Cove Marina during normal store hours for a Yeti cooler.
“State parks, like Lake Thunderbird, are such an important offering to the people of Oklahoma” said Jessica Elliott. “With proposed budget cuts affecting our state parks, we want to host an event that would draw people to Lake Thunderbird.”
Lake Thunderbird State Park offers watersports, there are equestrian, mountain biking, hiking and nature trails as well an archery range. Accommodations at the park include more than 200 RV sites and campsites as well as playground and picnic areas.
Ten percent of all proceeds from the tournament will be given to Lake Thunderbird State Park.
