More Trouble Ahead

The Drudge Report carried an article entitled, “Gore:  Global Warming making People Dumber.”  Left-wing advocacy website Think Progress reported on a new study by the Harvard School of Public Health claims “Carbon Dioxide (CO2) has a direct and negative impact on human cognition and decision making.”

Former Vice President Al Gore was quick to join the chorus with his own article.  He may be right.  After all, Mr. Gore tried the seminary as a young man and dropped out.  He later attended Vanderbilt University, but never graduated.

As most of us know, President Obama will use his remaining months in office to frustrate those he considers his enemy.

One likely area to get his full attention is global warming.

The United Nations Climate Change conference in Paris is only weeks away – November 30 to December 11.

Bjorn Lomburg of the Wall Street Journal wrote, “rich countries and development organizations are scrambling to join the fashionable ranks of climate aid donors,” which means telling those people worse off that what they really need is not medicine, mosquito nets or nutrition, but solar panels.

The World Bank just announced a one-third increase in its climate-related funding to $29 billion.  President Obama pledged another $3 billion to match China’s contribution.

The president – through executive orders – will immediately lower emissions, but gives the Chinese until 2030 to comply. This will cost American companies billions of dollars to comply – and maybe your job.

The organization for Economic Cooperation and Development estimated that about one in four dollars of development aid goes to climate-related aid.  This is troubling to the author since public health and education is where the greatest needs are.

When surveyed, eight million of the world’s poor ranked “action taken on climate change” dead last out of 16 categories when asked, “What matters to you?”  A good education, better health care, better job opportunities and an honest government were their answers.

Also in Mr. Lomberg’s article, “According to the World Health Organization, three billion people suffer from the effects of indoor air pollution because they burn wood, coal or dung to cook.”  These people need access to cheap and reliable electricity, but because fossil fuels are not renewable, they are not getting the proper funding.

Mr. Obama does not care about these poor people.  He actually does not care about you.  His economic policies have all but eliminated America’s great middle class.

Public schools do not teach, workers have seen their jobs go overseas and still the establishment wants more and more low-skilled cheap labor.

Because of poor economic policies, drilling rigs are idle, steel mills are producing little and demand is low.  Over regulation, over taxation and too much federal spending has negatively affected most Americans.  The Congress just gave the president $80 billion more to spend, which in an election year will be used to get out the vote.

Against this backdrop, the Federal Reserve is still forecasting inflation to go along with higher employment numbers.  The unemployment number gets better because people are not looking for work.  They can’t get hired because of their skill sets or cannot pass drug tests.  They have given up.  It is not that “pretty much everyone who wants a job either has one or can find one quickly.”

So much for the Federal Reserves Phillips Curve theory.
