OSU fires long-time defensive coordinator Glen Spencer

Oklahoma State is looking for defensive help after firing football defensive coordinator Glenn Spencer.

Spencer, the highest paid ($675,000 a year) member of Coach Mike Gundy’s staff, was also the longest tenured assistant.

“I’m very appreciative for the 10 years of loyal service that Glenn Spencer gave to Oklahoma State,” Gundy said in a terse statement.

The problem was that while OSU has had record-setting, almost unstoppable offenses, the defense fell short at critical times.

The Cowboy defense was ranked No. 79 in 2017, No. 92 in 2016 and No. 99 in 2015. That’s not good enough to win the Big 12 Conference and challenge for national honors.
