Oklahoma State pitcher Jensen Elliott is a 2016 Baseball America Freshman All-American.
Elliott, who was named to the Baseball America Freshman All-America Second Team, finished his first collegiate season with a 9-3 record and 3.50 ERA in 17 starts. A right-hander from Coppell, Texas, Elliott tied for the Cowboys’ team lead in wins while also racking up 71 strikeouts in 87.1 innings of work.
An All-Big 12 Honorable Mention selection who was also named to the Big 12 All-Freshman Team, Elliott won his first-career start on Feb. 20 at UT Arlington with five shutout innings, and in the series finale at West Virginia he became the first OSU freshman since Matt Smith in 1998 to throw a complete game. In that game, he threw 133 pitches and allowed just one run on four hits while striking out four.
Elliott led OSU with five wins in Big 12 play as he went 5-1 in eight starts.
This marks the second Freshman All-America honor for Elliott as he previously earned that distinction from Louisville Slugger/Collegiate Baseball.
