It was a rough weekend for Oklahoma basketball teams – except Oral Roberts.
ORU, led by Jontray Harris, had six players hit double-figures as the beat Nebraska Christian 105-74.
Harris had his second straight double-double and the first 20/10 game of his career with 21 points and 12 rebounds, leading ORU in both categories. R.J. Fuqua led ORU with seven assists, while Sam Kearns and Austin Ruder each had five helpers.
Kellen Manek scored a career best 11 points with nine coming from the free throw line, while also grabbing a career best eight rebounds in 14 minutes of action. Spencer Sutton scored the final eight ORU points of the first half and finished with a career high 14 points.
“A career high for Kellen, a career high for Spencer and a career high Jontray,” said ORU coach Paul Mills. “Those are guys who show up every day for us and do a heck of a job for us. I’m glad that they were able to play a number of minutes and that it translated into scoring opportunities.”
Nebraska Christian got 39 points from D.J. Hanes while Matt Lillquist added 19 points on an 8-10 shooting effort.
ORU out-rebounded NCC 52-35, including 19 offensive rebounds. ORU led by as many as 31 in the game and led for 39:48 of the 40 minutes.
ORU plays at Fort Wayne (Indiana) at 6 p.m. Thursday and at Western Illinois at 2 p.m. Saturday.
