Freshman sensation Trae Young had a rare bad night shooting and the Sooners were edged by Texas, 79-74, Saturday in Austin.
Oklahoma had a chance to pull into a first-place tie with Texas Tech and Kansas with a win but failed to do so.
Young made only two three-point shots. He leads the nation in scoring (30.3 points per game) but was held to only 19 points against the Longhorns. Young also leads the nation in assists and he had 14 against Texas.
West Virginia edged No. 17 Oklahoma 75-73 Monday night in Norman. Young had 32 points but admitted after the game that he was ill.
