Pro-life Tulsans started 40 days of round-the-clock prayer for an end to abortion September 28 at a rally at the Garden of Hope, a park near 31st Street and Sheridan Road owned by the Roman Catholic Diocese of Tulsa.
The Catholic Diocese of Tulsa organized the event. Prayers will be offered over the next 40 days at the park by people from various churches and denominations.
A bill in the Oklahoma Senate by Sen. Nathan Dahm, R-Broken Arrow, sponsored by Rep. David Brumbaugh, R-Broken Arrow, in the House, would have removed the medical license of any doctor who performed an abortion. It passed easily in both the House and Senate but was vetoed by Gov. Mary Fallin, who ran for office twice as being “pro-life.” The legislative session expired before an override vote could be taken.
