Regalado elected Tulsa County Sheriff

Tulsa sales tax increases OKed

Republican Vic Regalado easily defeated Democrat Rex Berry in the April 5 special election for Tulsa County Sheriff.

Regalado will finish the unexpired term of former Sheriff Stanley Glanz, who resigned after being indicted with two misdemeanor charges by a grand jury. The filing period for a full term began April 13.  Regalado got 36,852 votes (62 percent) while Berry got 23,914 (38 percent).

In Tulsa, all three propositions to raise the city sales tax passed easily.

Proposition 1 got 31,965 yes votes (72 percent) and 11,575 no votes (28 percent). Proposition 2 got 33,025 yes votes (75 percent) and 11,157 no votes (25 percent). Proposition 3 got 26,325 yes votes (63 percent) and 15,144 no votes (37 percent).

The Tulsa County sales tax increase got 37,593 yes votes (64 percent) and 21,110 no votes (36 percent).

Sales tax votes also passed in Collinsville (335 yes, 176 no); Glenpool (709 yes, 320 no); Jenks (1,919 yes, 532 no); and Owasso (1,819 yes, 858 no).
