The Tulsa Police Department continues to investigate a high number of vehicle burglaries.
As the holiday season approaches, the department would like to remind citizens that many of these burglaries are crimes of opportunity. In several recent vehicle burglaries, the suspects have gained entry by opening unlocked doors when they see valuables in plain sight. In other vehicle burglaries, the suspects are breaking windows when they see valuables in plain sight.
Burglary from vehicle prevention starts by limiting the criminal’s opportunity to commit the crime and it can be accomplished with very little time and effort. Leaving your valuables in your vehicle instantly makes a car a target for thieves. It only takes a few seconds for thieves to break into a vehicle and steal valuables.
