Sales Tax Overview Committee is satisfied with progress

Tulsa’s Sales Tax Overview Committee is satisfied that city officials are finishing projects that have been financed by selling bonds to be repaid by increased sales tax.

In a report, the committee states that “projects have either been completed as promised, are in the process of being completed or are awaiting the availability of funds prior to beginning the project.”

Some voted projects have been eliminated or materially changed.

“The committee is satisfied that the changes were prompted by valid engineering, budgetary or regulatory reasons not known when the project was presented to electorate,” according to the statement, “and in each such case, those monies were appropriated to a similar project.” Those changes had to have formal approval by the City Council and the mayor. The chairman of the committee is Ashley Webb (Council District 4), the vice chairman is Steven Roemerman (District 7) and Karen J. O’Brien (District 3).
