Senior Saturday concerts in July

Senior Saturdays is a concept of concerts “designed with Seniors in mind,” said Producer Bob Archer.

The first one will kick off on July 30 at 2 p.m. with a concert which will feature the American Celebration Orchestra (known for big band arrangements) along with a soloist, Colleen Thompson, who sings a lot for Veterans’ groups as well as for the Frontline Singers. Lots of patriotic music will be played such as You’re a Grand Ol’ Flag, God Bless the USA and America My Home and others.

American Celebration Orchestra, a 20-piece big band, has played from Tulsa to Branson to New York City and many other areas in between. Archer is the producer and orchestra manager. Bob Holzmann is the band conductor. Brandon Collins is the director for the Frontline Singers.

For now, concerts will be designed every other month with different entertainers each time. Some of them are local and some are from out of state. Each concert will sport a different flavor, which is why Senior Saturdays is billed as a musical variety show. The shows will be fun, lively, friendly, wholesome and definitely entertaining, said Archer.

Advance tickets are only $8. Each can be obtained by calling 918-814-5550 or ordering online at www.seniorsaturdays.net Tickets can also be purchased at the door for $10. The July 30, 2 p.m. show will be at the Marriott Hotel at 71st Street and South Lewis Avenue.
