The University of Tulsa Department of Athletics has signed an eight-year agreement with adidas to become the exclusive apparel provider for all 18 Golden Hurricane intercollegiate sports.
The Portland, Oregon-based sports brand will be the official uniform, apparel, footwear and accessory provider for Tulsa Athletics beginning July 1, 2016 through the 2023-24 athletic season.
“The Tulsa-adidas partnership marks the first time in school history for an all-inclusive sports apparel, footwear and accessory deal and we’re tremendously excited to begin this new partnership with adidas. Aligning ourselves with adidas, a national leader in shoe and performance wear, will certainly benefit our student-athletes and coaches,” said Tulsa Vice President and Director of Athletics Dr. Derrick Gragg. “adidas has already gone above and beyond to make us feel as a valued partner.”
“We’re excited about the future of Golden Hurricane Athletics,” said Jim Murphy, Director of NCAA Sports Marketing for adidas America. “We are committed to designing and developing high performance products that make athletes better and we look forward to outfitting Tulsa’s 18 intercollegiate sports programs in our newest and most innovative footwear, apparel and uniforms.”
Tulsa fans will be able to purchase official sideline apparel, coaches’ shirts, hats, jerseys, performance apparel and outerwear at a wide variety of quality retailers including the Campus Corner Bookstore as well as on the official athletics website.
“We are extremely excited about this partnership with adidas,” said TU basketball coach Frank Haith. “The quality of the product is first class, and I know our players are extremely excited about putting on those uniforms. Seeing that the NBA wears adidas, from a recruiting standpoint, I know it is something we can sell. Also, with the fact that our fans will be able to purchase some of the sideline gear, I think it’s just going to be a terrific partnership.”
“We’re really thrilled to be partnering with adidas especially on a long-term deal,” said TU football coach Philip Montgomery. “adidas is a company that has been on the creative edge of where uniforms are going from a look standpoint. To have that type of influence as to what our game apparel and uniforms will look like, will help us in recruiting and across the board. Plus, the number one thing is that our student-athletes will be provided with more gear and high quality gear that will be lasting throughout.”
