The challenges that face our nation in 2016 are many.

Taking a principled stand when even friends and colleagues make compromises is difficult. But that is the right thing to do.

I so appreciate the support of so many of my constituents who have stood beside me and encouraged me as I challenged the status quo. It’s great to know that you are in my corner.

In 2016, America faces national security threats from abroad including ISIS, Russia and an Iran that is getting nuclear weapons and tremendous funding for financing worldwide terrorism.

At home, Congress has voted to increase our debt by trillions of dollars – an unsustainable policy. Congress – even most Democrats – understand the failure of Obamacare yet we are slow to make corrections and repeal seems hopeless.

Our borders are porous and the administration seeks amnesty as it welcomes immigrants without sufficient screening. The videos of the leaders of Planned Parenthood are proof that they should not have a penny of government funding yet they get funded anyway.

It is time for a change in course and that leadership must come from Republicans who must make tough decisions for the good of our nation.

Voters will pick a new president. There are good candidates in the Republican field but I am supporting U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas. He has a proven record that he will stand by his word and his conservative values are exactly what the country needs at this time.
