Tulsa Police are targeting red light violations in April

The Tulsa Police Department Riverside Traffic Unit will focus on red/yellow light violations in major commercial/retail corridors in south and west Tulsa (south of 11th Street West of Sheridan Road) during the month of April.

Riverside Traffic Unit Officers will be randomly monitoring all major intersections in the major commercial corridors in the division.  A citation issued for a red light violation carries a fine of $200, a citation issued for a yellow light violation carries a fine of $150. There will be no warnings issued.

According to a spokesman, the Riverside Traffic Unit wants drivers to remain alert, refrain from using all electronic communication devices and to pay special attention to all traffic signals.  Violation of a red light is a leading cause of injury collisions in intersections.  The Riverside Division has some of the most dangerous intersections in the City of Tulsa, and it is the Traffic Unit’s goal to reduce the frequency and severity of those collisions.
