Tulsa police initiate ‘safe shopper’

The Tulsa Police Department will implement Operation Safe Shopper this holiday season. Officers from the Mingo Valley Division and the Riverside Division will be patrolling the major shopping centers at Woodland Hills Mall, 71st Street corridor, 41st Street and Yale Avenue, 21st Street and Yale Avenue, Utica Square, Tulsa Hills and 96th Street and Delaware Avenue.

Police say Operation Safe Shopper is a well-received program by both the public and the area retailers.  While on patrol, officers meet with the public and are a positive force in crime prevention and education.

Officers will focus on patrolling the shopping areas on bicycles and in vehicles, monitoring parking lots and handling a large number of calls for service in the shopping areas.
