One of the lessons taught by the propagandists in Nazi Germany during World War II was that when you lie, tell the biggest lie you can.
That just what the Freedom From Religion Foundation did when it purchased a full-page ad from the liberal Tulsa World and tried to make a case that the Bible is pro-abortion.
Aptly enough, the ad has a big picture of Planned Parenthood founder Margaret Sanger, who promoted eugenics and wanted abortion legalized so that black women and other minorities would stop having babies.
This lying ad in the Tulsa World claims that the Bible teaches that life begins at birth, that unborn babies are not persons, that adultery justifies abortion, that life is not sacred, that God sanctions the deaths of pregnant women, that God kills unborn babies and that the pregnant women who were killed in Noah’s flood were evidence that God is pro-abortion.
It’s hard to say which is worse – the lies in this ad or that the Tulsa World would accept an ad that is so contrary to fact.
Here’s what the Bible really teaches about the sanctity of unborn life:
- Proverbs 24:11-12 – “Rescue those who are being taken away to death; hold back those who are stumbling to the slaughter. If you say, ‘Behold, we did not know this, does not He who weighs the heart perceive it? Does not He who keeps watch over your soul know it, and will He not repay man according to his work?’”
- Jeremiah 1:4-5 – “Now the word of the Lord came to me, saying, ‘Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, and before you were born I consecrated you; I appointed you a prophet to the nations.’”
- Isaiah 49:1, 5 – “Listen to me, O coastlands, and give attention, you peoples from afar. The Lord called me from the womb, from the body of my mother he named my name… And now the Lord says, He who formed me from the womb to be His servant, to bring Jacob back to him; and that Israel might be gathered to him – for I am honored in the eyes of the Lord, and my God has become my strength.
- Galatians 1:15 – “But when he who had set me apart before I was born, and who called me by his grace.”
Detractors pick Bible verses out of context to prove a preconceived notion. The Bible is meant to be read and studied from cover to cover and God Himself has pledged to teach a serious disciple.
This is another clear example of the liberal Tulsa World selling out their readers for “30 pieces of silver.”
