The United States Air Force Airmen of Note will give a free concert at 7:30 p.m. June 15 at the TCC VanTrease Performing Arts Center at 10300 E. 81st St.
This is a free event; however, tickets are required. Doors open a 30 minutes prior to performance time for ticket holders. All unclaimed seats will be released to non-ticket holders 15 minutes prior. Tickets may be reserved online: http://myticketoffice.com/.
Get tickets by phone by calling 918-595-7777 or go to the VanTrease PAC Ticket Office. This concert is part of a 3-day Oklahoma tour. Oklahoma stops include: Tulsa, Stillwater (at OSU) and Norman (for the 2016 Jazz In June Festival) Two of the members of the group have Oklahoma ties.
Master Sgt. Ben Patterson was born in Oklahoma, and grew up in Sapulpa before attending The University of North Texas jazz program.
Master Sgt. Kevin Burns (assistant flight chief and split lead trumpet) studied at Oral Roberts University, where he completed a bachelor of music degree in performance and a master of business administration degree. Burns played lead trumpet with the nationally televised Richard Roberts Live and Expect A Miracle television shows in Tulsa. He also was a featured soloist with the Oklahoma Synphonia/Tulsa Pops, the Tulsa Ballet, Ms. Oklahoma Pageant Orchestra, and worked extensively with various big bands in Oklahoma.
This tour takes place on the heels of a new Airmen of Note studio recording session (which will be released later this year). The band will be lighting up the stage performing selections from this repertoire. This new recording will feature a cross section of never-before-recorded selections by the Airmen of Note’s top arrangers from its inception through today.
Five of the members recently returned from a six-month deployment overseas entertaining troops.
