Letter to the editor: Will we have a second Civil War?

Our nation is locked once again in a Civil War. This time the two sides are not called the North and the South or the Union and the Confederacy. They are called by several names: the Progressives and the Conservatives or the Liberals and Conservatives or maybe just the Left and the Right.

The Democrat Party has been taken over by the radical Left and the Republican Party has become the advocate of law and order, at least for the present. The Progressives are training people to overthrow the elected government and seize power using Saul Alinsky’s Rules for Radicals.

Chicago socialist Saul Alinsky, known by the Left as “the father of community organizing,” taught radicals to “rub raw the sores of discontent” and create the conditions for a “revolution.” He dedicated his book, Rules for Radicals, to Lucifer.

Michelle Obama quoted from the book when she helped launch Organizing for Action in 2013. OFA is a group founded by former President Barack Obama and featured prominently on his new post-presidency website.

It is distributing a training manual to anti-Trump activists advising them to bully GOP lawmakers into backing off support for repealing Obamacare, curbing immigration from high-risk Islamic nations and building a border wall.  (Information from New York Post by Paul Sperry)

As Christians we have unique weapons and we need to use them.

“The weapons we use in our fight are not made by humans. Rather, they are powerful weapons from God. With them we destroy people’s defenses, that is, their arguments  and all their intellectual arrogance that oppose the knowledge of God. We take every thought captive so that it is obedient to Christ.” (2 Corinthians 10:4-5, God’s Word translation)

And what are some of our weapons? We have quite an arsenal, but our main weapon is the Word of God, which becomes a missile when proclaimed in prayer.  The blood of Jesus is equally effective when we testify to it as our covenant covering.

However, before using them we need to answer for ourselves the same question they asked Abaham Lincoln during the Civil War: Did he believe God was on the Union’s side? He answered, “Sir, my concern is not whether God is on our side; my greatest concern is to be on God’s side, for God is always right.”

Once we know the answer to that question, we can pray knowing our prayers are more powerful and effective than hatred, evil-speaking, twisted truth and outright lies.

We overcome evil with good. If that sounds counter-productive, let’s remember the battle is not against flesh and blood, but against principalities and powers, world forces of darkness and spiritual hosts of wickedness in high places. But – “The earnest (heartfelt, continued) prayer of a righteous man makes tremendous power available [dynamic in its working].” (James 5:16 Amplified Bible)

The United States recently released an ICBM which traveled 4,000 miles in 30 minutes and hit its target. Our prayers travel to God’s throne at the speed of light. When prayed in faith, they can hit their target and together we can stop a second Civil War.
