WSU runs past Tulsa

Corey Henderson Jr. led all scorers with 28 points, but No. 17 Wichita State withstood a Tulsa rally in the second half and pulled away for a 90-71 win on Sunday night at Charles Koch Arena.

Henderson went 7-of-15 from the field, hit five 3-pointers and went a perfect 9-of-9 from the free-throw line for the Golden Hurricane (11-10, 4-5). The senior scored 22 points in the second half, when he went 5-of-10 from the floor. Junior Etou neared a double-double with 18 points and nine rebounds, while Sterling Taplin added a dozen points and five assists.

Meanwhile, Austin Reaves scored a career-high 23 points in the first half and Shaquille Morris had 20 points to pace the Shockers (17-4, 7-2). Wichita State shot 47.1-percent from the field and had another 15 points off the bench from Darral Willis Jr.

The Hurricane host SMU at 7 p.m. Thursday and then travel to Tampa to play South Florida at noon on Sunday (on ESPN3).
