Filing for candidates for local school boards and some area municipal races will be December 6-8.

All forms must be completed and turned in by 5 p.m. on December 8. Contests against filings are due no later that December 10 and may only be filed by another candidate for that office.

If more than two candidates file for one spot, a primary will be held February 8. In that primary, if one candidate gets more than 50% of the votes, he or she will be elected. If no candidates gets more than 50% of the vote, the two with the highest vote totals will advance to the general election on April 5.

If only two candidates file, their names will be on the ballot April 5.

The school board seats that are open include:

  • Offices Nos. 4 and 7 in Tulsa Public Schools (four-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Sand Springs (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Broken Arrow (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Bixby (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Jenks (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Collinsville (five-year term)
  • Offices Nos. 2 and 5 in Skiatook (2-five-year term, 5-unexpired term with three years remaining)
  • Office No. 2 in Sperry (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Union School District (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Berryhill (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Owasso (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Glenpool (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Liberty (five-year term)
  • Office No. 2 in Keystone (three-year term)
  • Office No. 3 in Tulsa Technology School District (seven-year term)

The municipal races include:

  • Mayor of Collinsville (two-year term)
  • Collinsville city commissioners in Ward 3 and 4 (four-year terms)
  • Owasso City Council Ward 5 (three-year term)
  • Sapulpa City Council Ward 5 (four-year term). Note: filing for this office will be at the Creek County Election Board, 230 E. Hobson, Sapulpa).
  • Sand Spring City Council Wards 1 and 2 (three-year terms). Note: filing for these offices will be at the Sand Springs Municipal Building, 100 East Broadway, Room200.

Party nominees for offices in Collinsville, Owasso and Sand Springs will be picked in the February 8 primary and the general election will be April 5.
