Recently, the U.S. House voted 236-173 to pass Nancy Pelosi’s Equality Act. Every Democrat and eight Republicans voted in favor of this bill. Nancy Pelosi posted this message on Twitter: “This is not about tolerance. This is about respect for our LGBTQ communities, this is about taking pride.”
In a nutshell, the Equality Act (HR 5) provides special status to persons who claim peculiar “sexual orientation” and/or “gender identity.” The 1964 Civil Rights Act made it unlawful to discriminate on the basis of race, color, religion, sex, or national origin. Its original intent was to stop racial discrimination in schools and public places. Then the law was extended to include persons with disabilities – and now, persons who claim to be LGBTQ.
One opponent of this bill says “this bill enshrines a federally-mandated belief system . . . and it you don’t agree, you will be punished.” Another opponent said “this bill takes away the right to privacy for women and young girls in school showers, locker rooms and rest rooms; and it will eliminate all-girl athletic competition.”
Hopefully this bill will be voted down in the Senate, because if it becomes law, it will be used to shut down all public expressions (and Sunday morning sermons) on the homosexual sins of Sodom and Gomorrah.
If the Democrats have their way the only unprotected species will be white, heterosexual (straight) males. Let us pray that the American people will come to their senses.
