Are we back to normal in terms of the Chinese coronavirus infection?
Not really.
Life may never be exactly the same again.
We have learned some lessons:
- We can’t trust government health officials like we used to.
- Just because a “scientist” declares a fact does not mean it will be a “fact” two weeks from now.
- The Chinese Communist government is America’s enemy and cannot be trusted.
- So-called vaccines need to be tested for a long time before they are forced on people. And,
- We may have done irreparable damage to a generation of school children by forcing them to wear masks for eight hours a day and keeping them in front of computers rather than at school.
Of course, there are other lessons, like wearing a mask won’t keep you from getting sick, you can get “vaccinated” and still get the coronavirus, and federal bureaucrats will jump at any opportunity to push people around and make temporary mandates permanent.
Before the pandemic, every other year we would take our kids on an ocean cruise over the Christmas holiday. That is on hold now because almost all cruise lines require proof of vaccination to get on board. I am not doing that. Even if we did get on a cruise without vaccination, we could not risk being quarantined because we only take a week for a vacation because of our work schedule.
Here’s something else. I haven’t been to a movie theater in over two years. I have always loved going to the movies but now I watch movies at home.
I am sure I will go back sometime, maybe soon, but my routine has definitely changed.
Pre-coronavirus, if I were sick, I could stay home and watch the worship service at my church (First Baptist of Broken Arrow) on YouTube. Now, I can watch the worship service and participate remotely in Sunday School via Zoom. I can see and hear my classmates and they can see and hear me via computer.
This is wonderful in one sense but tragic in another because a percentage of church goers have now opted to stay home all the time. It’s convenient, it save time and you can sit in your living room yet “still go to church.” But the Bible tells us to “not forsake the assembling of ourselves together” and an electronic church doesn’t fit that scenario on a long-term basis. (The exception would be for people with physical limitations who can’t go to the church building.)
The late Robert Schuller started a church at an old drive-in theater in Anaheim, California, years ago. People could sit in their cars with a speaker in the window to do church. Again, this is not optimal.
I don’t think I will fly much anymore. The Biden administration wants to hang on to control as long as possible and they are still mandating that passengers wear masks. Some airlines kick people off the plane and have them arrested if take their masks off to eat or drink.
I have flown several times in the past two years and I hate wearing those masks because they trap germs and they don’t stop disease.
More people are working at home due to the coronavirus and that can be good and bad. It eliminates commuting, saves on eating lunch out and is good for family life most of the time.
There are downsides. Some workers don’t have good discipline away from work and aren’t as productive. A company dynamic could suffer when employees never see each other.
One ominous result of coronavirus is that Democrats used it as an excuse to monkey with election laws. They mailed ballots to everyone in some places because they wanted to “protect” people that wanted to stay indoors during a pandemic. And now they want to permanently change those laws and make it easy for anyone – including non-citizens and illegal aliens – to cast a vote because the Democrats are convinced they will capture all those votes.
And perhaps the worst result is that Americans have now been conditioned to over-react to a health crisis. The federal government – with the complicity of the liberal media – will use the coronavirus as a template to re-institute the unscientific mandates over common folks. The lesson taught our children during the last two years is that anyone who questions the federal authorities is a “conspiracy theorist” and state health officials never make mistakes.
Barack Obama wanted to change America and he got the ball rolling. The Chinese coronanavirus messed up a presidential election and Joe Biden made things worse.
We have some work to do to get back to normal.
