On December 15, 2021, the United States Geological Survey released an estimate for the amount of oil and natural gas reserves for the Bakken and Three Forks Formations in the Williston Basin of Montana and North Dakota.

That estimate includes 4.3 billion barrels of unconventional oil and 4.9 trillion cubic feet of unconventional natural gas in the two formations.

During the Obama Administration in 2013, former Secretary of the Interior Sally Jewell said, ““These world-class formations contain even more energy resource potential than previously understood, which is important information as we continue to reduce our nation’s dependence on foreign sources of oil. We must develop our domestic energy resources armed with the best available science, and this unbiased, objective information will help private, nonprofit and government decision makers at all levels make informed decisions about the responsible development of these resources.”

We have a lot of oil and natural gas.

Under President Trump, America became self-sufficient in energy for the first time in decades. In fact, energy companies were searching for ways to export natural gas to help America’s balance of trade.

Now America has gone back to importing oil.

What happened? Joe Biden.

On his first day in office, Biden took steps to throttle our energy industry. He canceled pipelines, he stopped issuing new drilling permits and he used executive orders to make it harder to explore for energy and produce it.

Blame the high gas prices on Biden, not the war in Ukraine.
