When Gov. Kevin Stitt, R-Tulsa, ran for governor in 2018, he promised that he would sign any pro-life bill that came before him.

Stitt has kept that promise. He has been a vocal opponent of abortion and he wants Oklahoma to be the first state to successfully ban the murder of unborn children.

That alone would merit support for re-election.

Stitt, a very successful businessman before entering politics, has brought a business perspective to state government. That is especially true in terms of the budget and spending policy.

And when America was blindsided by the Chinese coronavirus pandemic, Stitt navigated Oklahomans through one of the most successful policies of any state in the union.

Stitt is so effective in his conservative policies that secretive groups have been running nasty TV ads painting him as a monster. One ad tries to blast him for making money as a businessman. The liberal news media has attacked him, too.

State School Superintendent Joy Hofmeister, a liberal Democrat who switched parties to try to unseat Stitt, can’t stand Stitt’s opposition to Critical Race Theory and other ultra-liberal policies that are poising public schools.

Stitt opposed the terrible deal that former Gov. Brad Henry surrendered to the tribes concerning casinos and Stitt is working to enforce the laws against the illegal marijuana trade in Oklahoma.

Stitt is an outspoken Christian and his life is consistent with those beliefs. He provides political and moral leadership to a state battling drugs, gambling and other vices. Stitt has drawn admiration from all over the United States for good cause.

The Tulsa Beacon endorses Gov. Kevin Stitt for a second term as governor of Oklahoma.
